Shasta Association of REALTORS® Political Advocacy
As REALTOR® members and citizens, we have a duty to increase the public’s awareness concerning issues which may impact private property ownership and the community. An integral part of this process is through continued REALTOR® support and participation in the election of public officials and passing of public policy at the local, state, and federal levels.
The REALTOR® Party is a powerful alliance of REALTORS® and REALTOR® Associations working to protect and promote home ownership and property investment. The REALTOR® Party speaks with one voice to advance candidates and public policies that build strong communities and promote a vibrant business environment.
Now more than ever, it is critical for REALTORS® across America to come together and speak with one voice about the stability a sound and dynamic real estate market brings to our communities. From City Hall to the State House to the U.S. Capitol, our elected officials are making decisions that have a huge impact on the bottom line of REALTORS® and their customers. Through the support of REALTORS® like you, the REALTOR® Party represents your interests.

With the 2016 General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, we join the National Association of REALTORS® (“N.A.R.”) in encouraging you to select candidates at the federal, state, and local levels who understand the role of real estate and property rights in keeping our economy strong and building vibrant communities. N.A.R. recently reported key issues on the legislative and regulatory agendas include data privacy and security, mortgage interest deduction, state and local property tax deductions, capital gains exclusion on sale of principal residence, and flood insurance.
Additionally, members throughout our community are focused on ballot Measures D and E concerning an increase of one-half of one percent general sales tax to fund the tiers of the Blueprint for Public Safety plan as adopted by the Redding City Council. Therefore, we invite you to review the arguments in support and in opposition to both measures, as well as an outline of the key issues referenced above to assure you are informed come Election Day 2016.
